What is Alopecia?
Alopecia areata is identified by the rapid reduction of hair on the scalp, resulting in rough and random bald spots. It is a hereditary condition causing a gradual process of baldness, but it might begin to show up as early as puberty for both men and women and is sometimes known as male or female pattern baldness. Alopecia is highly prevalent and will most likely influence you or someone you know at some point, which is why we offer some of the most innovative hair restoration procedures to women and men in The Woodlands, TX. This lets them reach their cosmetic goals and regain a more enriched life as quickly as a couple of days after the treatment. Schedule an appointment at Rêve Dermatology and Aesthetics if you suspect you may have alopecia or another hair condition.
How is Alopecia Treated?
Delve into a diverse range of services meticulously crafted to address your specific level of hair loss. In cases of less severe alopecia, you should consider nonsurgical medical options. These approaches aim to optimize growth factors, fostering the rejuvenation of damaged hair follicles. Contact our specialized team at Rêve Dermatology and Aesthetics to learn which option is best for you.
What Are the Symptoms Of Alopecia?
The main symptom of alopecia is balding. Hair usually falls out in small round patches on the head. These areas are usually several centimeters or smaller in size. Hair loss may also happen in other areas of your body. You may first notice clumps of hair on your pillow or in your shower drain. The balding associated with alopecia is unpredictable and arbitrary. The hair may grow back at any given time and then drop out again. The magnitude of hair loss and regrowth varies greatly from one person to another. Some common signs you may be struggling with alopecia include:
- Gradual thinning of hair
- Sudden loosening or shedding of hair
- Balding in patches
- Full-body hair loss
Baldness alone should not be used to diagnose alopecia, as other kinds of diseases can also cause hair to fall out in a similar pattern. If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, contact Rêve Dermatology and Aesthetics for a proper diagnosis.

Extremely good. Very nice facility, friendly staff. Arrived early, saw Dr. Ojong early, everything went very smooth.
Very on time and let me say this - the Receptionist was beautiful, then I get back to the room and the nurse was beautiful....then the Doctor comes in and she was the most beautiful girl of them all!All kidding aside, very punctual and professional....but you might feel a bit ugly when you roll into this world of beautiful women.
I made an appointment with Doctor Reve for a mole check. The entire office staff was friendly and competent. The doctor was attentive to my needs; I will return for an annual check up next year!
Pretty office front desk was very nice and Ma was great but the doctor had me wait an hour after my appointment time definitely was not happy about that . She didn’t bother saying sorry for the wait.

What Are the Causes of Alopecia?
Alopecia areata occurs when the immune system destroys the hair follicles, leading to rapid loss of hair. Similarly, androgenetic alopecia can result from being born with hair follicles that are highly responsive to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a part of the testosterone hormone. Your hair follicles come under attack and react adversely with the DHT, resulting in damaged or scarred follicles. In both situations, the hair growth cycle is halted, and hair loss occurs.
